Footers are a key structural element that supports the foundation walls or piers. They help to distribute the weight of the structure evenly across a large area to prevent settling, cracking or tilting of the foundation.
Piers are vertical columns or supports typically used when a building’s foundation needs to be elevated above the ground. They are often used in places with unstable soil, poor drainage, or areas prone to flooding. Piers transfer the weight of the structure down to solid soil or bedrock below the surface.
